Cleansing Type 2 Hair

Cleansing Type 2 Hair

Washing your hair everyday isn’t necessary for type 2 hair. However hair can become very oily and be prone to product buildup. Washing twice a week maintains moisture, reduces buildup and oil and a clean scalp. Before shampooing Detangle thoroughly with a wide tooth comb to prevent breakage. Because hair can get oily quickly sulphate shampoos are optional but be mindful when using them.Sulphate shampoos are extremely drying to curls.

For type 2c curls we recommend a sulphate free shampoo as this pattern has more of a curl and will need a product less drying. For curl type details see; Understanding Your Hair Type. Sulphate free shampoos provide moisture instead of stripping hair of natural oils.

Co-washes known as conditioner cleansing can be used as a substitute to shampoo on some wash days. If you have an active lifestyle a co-wash can be a great addition for cleansing in between shampoos when your hair feels dirty or oily.

We recommend that you clarify at least once a month with a clarifying shampoo to tackle product build up from your products. Remember to include a conditioner after you shampoo and rinse thoroughly (unless it’s a leave -in conditioner) to restore moisture after shampooing.
